The winner of the pendant is.....plus tutorial!

OK, it's not the 10 May, but I'd thought I'd post the winner straight away - why wait, right? I have to admit I wasn't expecting so many wonderful ladies to respond to my giveaway post - thank you to everyone who participated, and everyone answered along the same lines!  The answer I was looking for was the lenses of glasses/spectacles. So the first person who gave this is Jen from Living in Annie's Room.  I'll contact you to see which pendant you would like me to send over !  Congrats!

Because so many of you responded with the correct answer, I thought it would be good to share the happiness!!!  So, using the Random.org,  katyfroglady  was randomly chosen.  So, katyfroglady   I'll be mailing you the pendant that Jen does not choose !  Yay!

Click below for the tutorial:

Safety first - I wouldn't give the pendant to little children because they have a tendency to put the lenses up to their eyes, and also because glass lenses may break and shatter if dropped. Also, make sure you tuck the wires in neatly - don't want to cut yourself!

If you wear glasses, you'll probably have a couple of
spare pairs for the "what if" scenarios!!  Unscrew the
lenses and wash them in water to remove grime.
You will need a set of pliers and wire cutters too.

I used gauge 22 wire which I got at the hardware store.
You can use jeweller's wire too.  Wrap the wire and basically
go crazy with it (but not too crazy!). Make sure the 2
ends of the wire finish off at the top of the lens where you
can twist and make a loop. And you're done!

If you're looking at using the conventional method of wrapping.....
You will need 3 long pieces and 5 short ones.
Take 3 long ones and wrap together at 3 places -
bottom, and sides with the short wires.
Bring loose ends together @ top and wrap with short wire.
Insert lens and shape. Pull the top wires at
all 4 corners over the lens. Turn over and repeat!
Make the loop and wrap again. Curl and remaining wires.
Warning - this can get very addictive!!!  I made one with little fronds....

Hope the tutorial is clear - if you have any questions, please comment below or email me!  :-)

  1. What a great idea! Who has ever owned a pair of reading glasses that didn't lose a lens at some point? Thanks for sharing!
